Stories-Plus
Stories Plus is dedicated to bringing stories, readers, and listeners together. Through engaging booktalks, workshops, PowerPoint presentations, and storytelling performances, author and storyteller, Muriel Miller Branch, brings little-known facts about African Americans and women to life. Her presentations are designed to raise awareness of the important contributions made by African Americans such as Maggie Lena Walker; of the richness of African-American cultures such as the Gullah; and of the historical importance of events like Juneteenth. As NaMe' the Storyteller, Muriel transports audiences into the imaginary world of kind maidens, brave princes, and cunning tricksters.
Muriel enjoys coaxing young and old alike into unleashing their writing and storytelling talents, for she firmly believes that, "A story resides in each of us," and that, "Ideas are like helium-filled balloons. They need energy to soar," a proverb she coined in 1991.
