Miss Maggie – a costumed interpretation of Maggie Lena Walker’s life as told from the perspective of an elderly woman, NaMe’ the Storyteller, or a slide presentation depicting life in Richmond, Virginia during Maggie Walker’s life. Suitable for children.

Idea to Publication – a Power Point presentation supplemented with books, sample query letters, manuscripts, galleys, and other items that convey the many steps in the publication process. This presentation also includes a writing activity. Suitable for children ages 10 up and adults.

Writing History As Story – an interactive presentation designed to demonstrate how an author uses historical facts, events, or personalities to build “tell” a story. Suitable for adult audiences.

The Water Brought Us – a presentation that includes a combination of narrated slides, music, storytelling, and discovery tasks on the Gullah culture. All ages.

Spies In Petticoats – a Power Point presentation and display on the importance of using primary sources/documents in writing historical fiction. Suitable for children – upper elementary through high school.

A Story…A Story – a storytelling demonstration and workshop. All ages.

History, Heroes & Humor - Retelling Family Stories – a Power Point and interactive presentation on collecting and using family stories. All ages.

Imagery Plays Mind Games -- a PowerPoint presentation and demonstration on the use imagery to create vivid pictures in the reader's mind. Includes creative writing prompts. (Suitable for upper elementary, middle, and high school students)

Talking About Books – Book talks on and readings from published works: Pennies to Dollars; Juneteenth; The Water Brought Us: The Story of the Gullah-Speaking People; Dear Ellen Bee: A Civil War Scrapbook of Two Union Spies; and Fine Arts and Crafts. All ages
